Introductions
Hello!! My name is Kristen Niewiera, and I am a recovering addict. I am the founder of A New Era Sober Living LLC.  I have dedicated my life to helping others thrive in their recovery. I was born in Massachusetts and lived in North Carolina for most of my adult life. I started my recovery journey in California after spending most of my life in jails and institutions. Struggling for many years with addiction, I knew there had to be a better way to live. After attending multiple detoxs and inpatient treatment centers, I always ended up relapsing and in a cycle of treatment and jail. Until the day I was introduced to a complete treatment plan, which includes a sober living environment after my detox and inpatient stay. Going from living inpatient at a treatment center and discharging back to a friend's house or mom and dad's wasn't working. Going to a sober living home after my detox and inpatient stay was a game-changer!! I was able to transition back into normal living in a sober, stable environment. Having the freedom to work and be able to have confidence in myself and my sobriety. Learn to live independently with help from my fellow sober living roommates and house managers. Doing this has helped me and so many others maintain sobriety and break free from the constant cycle of treatment and jail.

I believe sober living is a crucial part of the recovery process and absolutely one of the main ingredients to a sober success story !!!

DeeDee

Manager

I am a recovering alcoholic. The last few years of my husband's and my addiction, we were homeless. We knew we needed sober living, but wanted to stay together. We had been married for 13 years. Everywhere we looked, we were unable to stay together, and that kept us in a cycle of addiction. After our hospital stay, we heard about A New Era and called and spoke to Kristen, and that call changed everything for my family. We have 9 children with 3 being under 18, so this changed everyones lives. We were able to have a safe sober place to live , get jobs, and after a few months reunite with our children. I am now a House Manager in one of the A New Era homes. We now have a relationship with all our children and grandchildren, something we feel would have never happened if it weren't for getting sober and coming to A New Era. We love that we are a family again and get to help others stay sober as well! None of this would have been possible without Kristen and the A New Era family!!

April

House Manager

Living in a sober living isn't just about staying sober- It's about figuring out how to live, really live, without numbing your trauma. I was just trying to stay sober and figure out what came next. What I didn't know is that my time as a resident would teach me lessons about accountability, friendships, and boundaries that I carry with me now as a Resident Manager. Lessons that help me understand and bond with the residents entering our homes. These experiences not only shaped my recovery journey but also my personal goals and career. Taking me from someone who is searching for stability and meaning in life to building my practice as an intuitive spiritual coach, energy healer, and tarot reader, assisting others in the self-healing journey and in recovery. I'm proud and honored to be part of the management team at A New Era Sober Living. This experience has taught me about myself, about relationships and about building a life I never thought possible.

Paul

House Manager

My name is Paul, and I've been a House Manager at A New Era since October 2024. New Era has allowed me to live a good, clean life. Being a House Manager means having integrity and accountability. Helping others learn the same skills I've learned is very rewarding.

Alissia

I enjoy working here in sober living because it's what has kept me sober, and I also get to help other people recovering from addiction and mental health. This whole experience is so inspiring for me, meeting new people and learning new things I wouldn't have been able to without A New Era.

Hamid (Z)

Area Manager

Being a Manager in sober living has opened so many doors for me. I have learned to be a better man, a better father, and I'm able to help other struggling, recovering addicts.

Tyler

House Manager

A New Era is unlike any other sober home. They provide recovering addicts with a sense of independence like no other. At A New Era, Kristen and Jerry have given managers the tools to help fellow addicts become more self-reliant. As a former client turned manager, my experience here has been so important to my journey. Im now 16 months sober and on my second season of working. The consistency provided has been a huge influence on my job retention. Fellow managers are also a great supporting factor in the motivation here at A New Era. For me, the biggest part of A New Era is the kind. caring, consistent atmosphere Kristen and Jerry provide for all of us fellow addicts!!

Jerry Scott

District Manager

Hello! I’m Jerry, a manager at A New Era Sober Living. My role here has given me a strong sense of purpose and the chance to support individuals in their fight against addiction. Witnessing clients thrive in their recovery and transform into contributing members of society is truly inspiring; I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.

Heather

House Manager

I have had a chance to grow and develop the responsibilities needed to be a successful adult here at sober living. I have centered my life around helping people by giving what was given to me almost 3 years ago. I gained family again that I didn't have before I was here. It feels amazing to see the growth in myself, it gives me something to be proud of. I had lost myself before sobriety. Now that I have found myself, I want to help other people be able to find themselves too, that's exactly what we do here at A New Era.

Joshua B.

House Manager

I have been a House Manager for 9 months. This is something I wanted to do since the day I stepped foot into treatment. I made it a long-term goal that I accomplished. It helps me stay sober while learning how to help others like me. Working for A New Era Sober Living has really made me become the person I am today. I work with awesome people who care about their work and the residents. I love seeing the residents succeed in their recovery because I know I played a part in their success.

Matthew H.

House Manager

Hello, I'm Matthew, and I'm a Manager at A New Era Worcester, Massachusetts home. To me, A New Era is the very foundation where my recovery has made a turn in the right direction. I was given a chance when no one else would give me one. I haven't looked back since. A New Era is my HOME.

Motivational Support

Our staff is dedicated to helping clients stay focused, motivated, and encouraged throughout their recovery process.

Resume Building

Assistance with building and updating resumes to help clients in their job search and career advancement.

Safe Housing

We provide safe and stable housing for individuals in recovery, creating a supportive environment for their journey.

Curfew

Residents of the sober living are required to be at the housing by 10:30pm on weekdays and 12:30am on weekends. If the resident works outside of those hours a schedule can be submitted for adjustment of curfew. This is to help residents maintain a healthy schedule and maintain sobriety.

House Managers

Each one of our homes have a House Manager. A House Manager is a person who is employed to live in the home and oversee the day to day order. House Managers hold residents accountable while motivating them in their recovery. House Managers ensure no drugs or alcohol are on property or used while residing in our homes. All of our House Managers are in recovery and are caring, understanding and compassionate.

Chores

Residents are asked to maintain a clean environment. Things like keeping up with your own dishes, sweeping and mopping, doing your own laundry, cleaning up the bathroom after using it. A tidy home is a happy home!!

Resumes and Job Searching

We offer at A New Era Sober Living resume building and job search assistance. We have staff members specifically assigned to helping residents make new resumes and assist with applying for local jobs. We believe that having a stable job is a key part of long term sobriety and a must in moving forward in your recovery! If you are a resident and would like to create or make a new resume you can go to your house manager for the information on how to start the process.

One Step Recovery Software

Our interactive app is designed to help residents manage their sobriety journey effectively. Users can easily download the app to track important sobriety dates making it simple to see their progress. Additionally the app allows individuals to check in and out of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings virtually. This feature ensures that users have a record of meeting attendance. The app celebrates users’ achievements by providing milestones as they reach important sobriety goals. One Step helps us manage and track drug screening by saving the screens to the corresponding resident file. It also allows us to send out invoices when rent is due and email receipts directly to residents when they pay their rent.

Fully Furnished Homes

Homes are offered fully furnished, making it easy for new residents to settle in. This means that essential items like dishes, pots, pans, bedding, and beds are already provided. Such convenience allows individuals to move in without the hassle of buying these basic items. Furthermore, anything that cannot be replaced, such as personal belongings, will be the responsibility of the residents. This arrangement simplifies the moving process and helps create a comfortable living space right away.

Local Care Coordination & Treatment

In every state where we provide services, we work closely with local care coordinators. These professionals help individuals find long-term housing placements and navigate the resources available to them. Additionally, we offer local options for intensive outpatient clinics for those who need more support. If you are interested in care coordination or would like to attend an outpatient group please ask a staff member for more information. They are ready to assist you and guide you through the local options available.
